Though most of the Quetico was burnt to the ground in 2021, the fishing was as incredible as always. This is hands down the best Smallmouth Bass fishery on the planet, as we landed 20 inch Bronze Backs daily. Bonus this time up we found some monster largemouth & crappie. Walleye fishing was just as good and my fish taco recipe was such a hit we had them four times.

Is it still “trout fishing” if we’re throwing the same flies as we do in Baja? I’ve been a fly fishing guide for over two decades and this is the first time I’ve targeted trout. I do believe having never trout fished before actually helped us on this expedition, as we primarily threw four inch baitfish patterns at every level of the water column.
